Heading into the second-to-last week of the regular, the Roadrunners were one of three teams in the FBS that was undefeated. However, a slip-up against North Texas derailed any hopes of a perfect season. Yet, they come into Tuesday with a 12-1 record after winnning the program’s first C-USA title by beating Western Kentucky. This will be UTSA’s third bowl game in their history, and are still looking for their first win after losing in the 2016 New Mexico Bowl, and the First Responder Bowl last year. They will be without their record-breaking running back Sincere McCormick, as he declared for the draft last week.
The Aztecs came one win away from a conference title, but were hammered in the Mountain West Conference title game at the hands of Utah State. Yet, San Diego State finished with their fifth 10-win season in seven years, and first since the return of former Michigan head coach Brady Hoke. This will be the program’s 19th bowl appearance, and are 9-9 all-time in these postseason affairs. Their last bowl game came against Central Michigan in the 2019 New Mexico Bowl, where the Aztecs dominated 48-11.

Similar to San Diego State, the Golden Flashes also were one win away from a conference championship, as they fell to Northern Illinois in the Mid-American Conference title game. However, their respectable 7-6 season (inlcuding a 6-2 conference record) helped Kent State to their fifth bowl game in the program’s history. They are 1-3 all-time in bowl games, with their lone win coming in their last appearance in the 2019 Frisco Bowl when they knocked off Utah State.
The Cowboys are coming into the program’s 17th bowl game, and fourth under heach Craig Bohl after an up-and-down 6-6 season. While they played well in non-conference action, Wyoming struggled in MWC play, going 2-6 and finish fourth the in Mountain Division. The Cowboys are 8-8 in bowl games, with wins coming in each of their last two bowl appearances, including a win the 2019 Arizona Bowl against Georgia State.
